Asta Sihvonen-Punkka appointed Director-General of the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority

On 20 January 2011, the government appointed Ms Asta Sihvonen-Punkka, Lic. Sc. (Econ.) to the post of Director General of the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority. Ms Sihvonen-Punkka's term of office will commence on 1 March 2011 and end on 30 September 2015.
Before assuming her new post, Ms Sihvonen-Punkka has been employed in the Energy Market Authority as Director-General from 2002 and as a Director from 1998. Previously, she has been engaged as an Assistant Director in the Finnish Competition Authority. From 2008, Ms Sihvonen-Punkka has been acting as the chairperson of an EU Working Group on the Electricity Market.
